Jordan Lewis thought he was about to become Hawthorn’s next captain at the end of the 2016 AFL season. Weeks later, he was a Melbourne player.

Melbourne discuss future of AFL superstar Clayton Oliver. Lewis was a mainstay in Hawthorn’s core midfield during their premiership era of 2013-2015, and even as far back as their 2008 flag. With Luke Hodge, Sam Mitchell and Brad Sewell, Lewis formed a key part of the midfield nucleus that made Hawthorn a powerhouse. He played 264 games for the Hawks, winning their best and fairest in the premiership year of 2014, the same season he earned his only All-Australian blazer.
