Apple’s original Apple Watch is officially considered “obsolete,” which means repairs are off the table for anyone still checking the time on their Series 0 device. The first generation watch was released in 2015, alongside an 18-carat gold version for $10,000 — but even that exorbitantly priced product is no longer supported by the maker.
The product was already considered “vintage” as is eventually customary for products no longer sold by Apple. The WatchOS 5 software update in 2018 dropped support for the first-generation watches, which initially operated on watchOS 2. But it has been seven years since Apple sold the product, bringing the stainless-steel and sapphire crystal — or solid gold — products to the end of their surprisingly short lifespan.
