A manhunt is continuing for the attackers behind what police believe was a targeted fatal shooting outside a shopping centre in Melbourne’s north. Emergency workers arrived at Craigieburn Central shopping centre on Windrock Ave just before 3pm on Saturday after reports of several shots fired. Police said two men were sitting in a car outside in the shopping centre’s car park when four unknown men approached on foot and fired multiple shots at them.
The offenders fled in a black Range Rover Sport which was later located burnt out on Broad Street in Westmeadows, 13km south of the shooting location. The four suspects fled from that vehicle and have yet to be arrested. Police cordoned off the area and are working to determine the motive but said the shooting appears to have been targeted. Distressed family members were seen desperately trying to push past the police cordon, with the victim’s mother and father believed to be among the group.
