Australia’s most popular dog names of 2023 have been revealed - with Luna proving to be a man’s best friend. Bupa Pet Insurance has unleashed the top 10 classic names for boy and girl canines after analysing the monikers from January to September this year. Of the top 10 names, Luna was crowned the winner, followed by Daisy and Milo. Bella and Coco took out fourth and fifth positions respectively, with Teddy, Charlie and Frankie following closely behind. Archie and Ruby rounded out the top 10.
Sport fans named their dogs after their favourite athletes - including Brazilian-Portuguese footballer PEPE and Kobe, an ode to late NBA champion basketballer Kobe Bryant. “Just like some children’s names, some pet names can divide popular opinion,” Bupa General Insurance general manager Shannon Orbons said. “Perhaps that’s why classic names continue to top the list, though the trend for more unique dog names continues to grow.
