The bid proposes that two places are held in reserve for host nations that fail to qualify and all eyes now fall on Casement Park redevelopment

Ireland and the UK have been confirmed as Euro 2028 hosts today in a £300 million boost for the economy on the island.

Hot favourites anyway, the five associations still had to present their final proposal to UEFA's all powerful Executive Committee this morning before it was rubber-stamped. The FAI team in Switzerland is fronted by chief executive Jonathan Hill, chief operating officer David Courell and president Gerry McAnaney.

But crucially, UEFA is not expected to finalise the mechanics of the host nations qualification path for some time yet.
