County Executive Adam Bello joins FLPPS and Monroe Community College to announce significant ARPA funding to tackle the nursing workforce shortage on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023.
Rochester, N.Y. - A new investment announced on Tuesday will address the long-term health care staffing shortage.“The COVID-19 pandemic shined a light on the shortage of skilled health care workers in our county," Bello said in a statement. "With this $11 million ARPA investment, we are creating a long-term solution to this problem by breaking down barriers and creating pathways to career advancement in nursing.
$5.5 million of the funding will go to the FLPPS Long-Term Care Workforce Program to establish career pathways and expand service capacity.“I am excited that FLPPS is partnering with MCC, skilled nursing facilities, and local training organizations and workforce experts to develop stronger, equitable, and high-performing workforce development systems," said Carol Tegas, CEO of FLPPS, in a statement.
This project was selected as part of Bring Monroe Back, Monroe County’s plan that will utilize federal funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act .
