The man who died while trying to save his family farm from a bushfire in NSW has been identified. Richard Mainey was trying to save his family farm on Monday as a bushfire passed through the area.

Man’s body recovered after bushfire on Mid-North Coast. Concerns were later raised for the 56-year-old man’s welfare when he could not be located, prompting NSW Police to attend the property on Stony Creek Lane in Temagog — 30km west of Kempsey — about 10.15pm on Monday. Mainey’s body was located on the property. His bulldozer was also located nearby and had been destroyed. Mainey’s brother and sister-in-law confirmed the news on social media on Wednesday.
