Coles supermarket has confirmed a major change to its chilled produce aisles at selected stores. The retail giant has confirmed that it is placing glass doors on its ranges of refrigerated buys - such as meat, cheese, yoghurt, butter, milk, cream and other perishable items - at all new stores as a way to reduce energy consumption. The only section that will not have doors is the fresh produce section.
au understands that doors have more recently been added to some fridges in the meat section at new Coles stores. More than 90 per cent of new Coles supermarkets use natural refrigerants which have close to no global warming potential compared with older synthetic refrigerant gases with high GWP. The move has already been given the thumbs up by some Coles shoppers. “F***en onya, Coles,” said one Reddit user wrote.
