Mathias Cormann is ramping up his attack on Labor's push to boost the minimum wage, saying ‘decades of economic history’ show that doing so would force 'families into unemployment and poverty’. It comes as Labor is set to make a case to the Fair Work Commission to award an above-inflation minimum wage increase to low-paid workers.

BS of the highest order. That is the primary mechanism for getting the economy moving again. The more people have the more they spend and the more jobs that creates, the more taxes people pay etc.

Here comes financial genius that doesn't know you have to pay for airline ticket before you get one Cant count to 41 Economic illiterate

You say ‘ramping up’ like anyone is actually listening to these muppets (other than Sky hanging on every word).

So to summarise; Forcing impoverished people into poverty...?

It took you 6yrs to destroy Australia and essentially bring us into recession. Labor didn't even do that with a gfc..

It took just HALF A DECADE to once again expose the LNP’s inept economic management: Disposable income down, greenhouse gas emissions highest ever, penalty rates cut, highest taxing Govt for ten year’s and National Debt doubled.

Yes only corrupt lnp can have a pay rise every year

We already are.

Nobody is taking Corman seriously.

So his happy for families to live on minimum wage when everything else is going up. Like to see him live on minimum wage.

Was he smoking a cigar when he said this?

Lots of if's, if minimum wage is increased too much there will be higher unemployment, so how does sensible increases over a number of years allowing aggregate demand to filter through affect unemployment ?

We have stopped listening to you.

Whatever .... MathiasCormann LiberalAus CallElectionNow auspol

as opposed to LNP starving working families of real wage growth while everything around us going up 4 times inflation. Six years of LNP has decimated family budgets. Slash & burning services, payments to the most vulnerable, families & pensioners has only added to that crisis.

'unemployment and poverty' as opposed to being employed and in poverty while the business owners, shareholders, CEOs etc continue to get richer ...

We know Mr Cormann can’t count to 45, so what would he know about Economic History?

Drop the cost of living then , power, gas, petrol, medication, school fees, tax, foods, clothing, smokes. It's not our fault wages don't match cost of living. It's your fault . Governments running Australia .how do you expect us to live like this.?

Ok for him on 200k plus and still can't/forget to pay for a family holiday pigs in trough politician's at our expense WAKE UP AUSTRALIA

Coming from the party that is plunging us into debt?!

It's ok for him on 200k plus

Would like to see the evidence.

rosfler_fuller It is simply a lie; the old trickle-down lie. auspol

Someone should tell Mathias Cormann that families are under employed which is forcing families into poverty already!

Mathias the media suggests you wont stay after the next election if the LNP lose... if thats true will you leave before the election so Australia doesnt incur the cost of a needless byelection?

More talk and no action from this government. No wonder mainstream voters have stopped listening to this mob.

Not that I’d vote labour,,, or liberal, you are all parasites and sell the Australian people out= treason

with the analysis

Show us this proof you have then!!

How Labor will achieve 45% emissions reduction ‘remains a mystery’ | Sky News AustraliaIt has been over three years since Bill Shorten vowed to reduce Australia’s emissions by 45 per cent, but the Labor leader is yet to outline how his party will achieve the target.\n\nBill Shorten’s office has confirmed the carbon emissions target is economy-wide, and therefore applies to emissions on the agriculture and transport sectors.\n\nWith agriculture and transport emissions making up 13 per cent and 19 per cent of Australia’s emissions respectively, Sky News host David Speers says it's 'rather important' for Labor to outline how it plans to reduce these emissions, particularly for ‘those who use transport and those who eat food’.\n\n\n\n\n David_Speers But it isn’t a real goal. Like everything else with Labor it is just meaningless aspirational statements and virtue signalling. David_Speers Labor really doesn’t have to do anything, the coalition are doing plenty without any help from Bill. David_Speers Euro 6 fuel standards is the first thing that should be implemented. We no longer produce cars here so that excuse for keeping shit fuel doesn't cut it anymore.
