The manager of the Adelaide Ice Arena said he has introduced changes to the venue and will investigate how a faulty machine resulted in dozens of people being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. Firefighters from the Metropolitan Fire Service were called to the Ice Arena in Thebarton on Sunday after a number of ice hockey players presented to hospital with symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Dozens poisoned at Adelaide Ice Arena. On Monday, SA Health said 49 people had presented to various hospitals in Adelaide with symptoms after visiting the Ice Arena on the weekend. While most of the patients were being observed, some required oxygen therapy. The cases are believed to be linked to an ice resurfacing machine. Safework SA is investigating the incident, and the venue’s management is conducting its own internal investigation this week.
