An award-winning apprentice jockey is clinging to life in hospital following a horror fall. Chelsea Reynolds, 28, was doing trackwork on a private property on the Fleurieu Peninsula when she fell at about 9am on Tuesday morning. She had been working on an uphill sand gallop when something went wrong. Reynolds is surrounded by family after being flown into hospital by an air ambulance. In a critical condition, the extent of her injuries is yet to be confirmed.
Only two weeks ago, Reynolds won a prestigious award for apprentice jockeys. Reynolds won her first race last year and has gone on to claim seven winners from 52 races overall. “I was loving every moment, every step. A few people were like maybe you should give it a crack. So I did!” she said at the time of her maiden victory. “Still in shock that it all happened, to be honest. It was just amazing. Unbelievable, really.
