Employment is soaring but growth is tepid, so what should we make of the state of the UK economy?

GDP growth is the Mummy Bear porridge bowl - disappointingly lukewarm.

And even with a deal, the Treasury, the Bank of England and the City are broadly agreed that the UK could be on track for the weakest growth this year in a decade.- within a whisker of the official target of 2% - inflation appears to be the Baby Bear bowl of the bunch: just right. For over a decade, the base rates set by the Bank of England have been below 1%; great news for borrowers, less so for savers.

If the trend of faster real wage growth continues and a Brexit deal is swiftly agreed, with little disruption to the economy, some economists think there could be a small rate rise later this year. With prolonged uncertainty, or a disruptive exit, some argue that the next move in interest rates may be down rather than up.For now, the economy's in a decent state. But not all fairy tales have happy endings.

Click bait, I would

The EU's been eating all our porridge !

Employment soaring? You're having a laugh! Zero hours, low paid, part-time contracts are not 'employment' they are just not unemployment.

In a Land where Employment sores but everyone is poorer, either stats are being manipulated, we are being lied too or the country is being stripped of its resources and future for the benefit of a very small group. In other words, BREXIT!

It’s in good shape!’

You haven't left yet. Just wait.

low paid-0hr-jobs are soaring-food bank Q is growing-homeless people numbers have gone through the roof-no pun intended-bleak times in the UK-after brexit bleaker still

Very simple! It's the effect of 'the country' being taxed to the hilt at source, then having to fork out VAT on spends with ever increasing taxes to simply get to work. Then to return to live in their abodes which are increasingly taxed by local authorities. Breadline economy!

Reasons for BBC agenda of talking economy down and its more general anti-Brexit lies

Barring just a very few long term/structural issues, only pro-EU Quisling scum like your vile organisation lying desperately to talk it down and maximise ongoing uncertainty for 33 months solid, really.

Is it something to do with Brexit, or global warming perhaps?

It's going very well but you can't quite bring yourselves to say so, can you BBC? It just doesn't fit your 'doom and gloom' Brexit agenda.

Also, wages so low, have to claim tax credits to live. Tax credits paid by the taxpayer. Companies keep their £ and pay less in corporate tax (over £billion less)

Look behind the unemployment headlines. 17+ mill full time jobs 14+ part time/ self employed (se) jobs. Includes 1 hr per week/ on DWP programmes, unpaid carers. Employment programmes encourage people to be se cleaners. People who have NO idea about the paperwork&stat duties.

All ‘in spite of Brexit’!

Deliberate bbc anti brexit bias or incompetence?

The crystal ball grows misty while the spirits have gone quiet 'Is there anybody there, at the door of number 10 one knock for yes, two knocks no? It's anybody's guess what's going on in there.

Um ... Brexit hasn't happened yet ... Come on ... Smarten up ...

Record numbers in employment, record numbers working living in poverty. Not good is it.

It’s fucked.

So at this point, remainers warning that UK would explode should brexit win the referendum have been proven to be false, inaccurate or plain bullshit?

When Brexit day, BBC will write a very different things. At the moment, nobody believe Brexit is coming. They think this situation will be end with a deal, but is it possible yet? I dont think so.

The BBC could produce a damning exposé of the re-employment of the recently unemployed, who are 'aided' (threatened) by the DWP into unsuitable work. They won't though, because they're in bed with the Tory government - probably to secure the most funding for their programming.

No shit, who would think experts could get it wrong?

Something tells me that this stuff that she taste was too cold.

Haven’t you heard? Fish going west, chips east. Spots north, dick south.

I’m sure the 1% will send a memo when the trickle down begins!

Today is Sunday we have NO bus service. The library closed months ago and the A&E is part time. Yet people march to continue along the same old path

You really don't know why this is, do you? Employment figures are inflated by the DWP. Their Jobcentre and Universal Credit bullies push all newly unemployed into unsuitable minimum wage work, under threat of homelessness, producing a mentally ill, inefficient workforce.

A load of graphs that have been reused a few times by this point, combined with a load of if's and maybes with a pinch of uncertainty. Classic economic article.

That its about to fall off a fucking cliff?

Hold on. We have one?

it's in excellent condition and prepared for a no deal brexit regardless of pointless marches or petitions...long live brexit.

Unemployment at its lowest because everyone on zero hour contracts, austerity means nobody can afford anything. Everyone is miserable. However we made some profit for a few 1% investors, so that’s all good! Well, what’s left of them after most ran away from brexit.
