NAB's interim CEO Philip Chronican has apologised for the bank's failings, in a dramatic turn around from the bank's previous appearances in parliament.

Fronting the Parliaments economics committee on Wednesday, Mr Chronican was asked about previous CEO Andrew Thorburn following his resignation in February. Mr Thorburn along with Chair Ken Henry were singled out in the banking royal commission's final report as being ‘flippant’ throughout the hearing. The interim CEO began the hearing with a long apology to the committee, saying the bank has been working to remediate customers.
