Treasurer Jim Chalmers has said the government will back a pay increase for millions of Aussies — but declined to be drawn on just how much of a rise they could expect. Australian treasurer Jim Chalmers says the government is backing minimum wage increase. The Fair Work Commission assesses the base rate for workers each year. Currently, the national minimum wage is $23.23 per hour, an increase of $3 per hour since the start of 2022.
