Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi isn’t sure if or when he’ll perform live after undergoing major surgery. The 62-year-old Bon Jovi frontman is preparing to release a new album called Forever with his band — but he may not be able to tour it. The album is due to drop on June 7, but Bon Jovi is still not back to full vocal strength two years after surgery on an “atrophied” vocal cord.
He was devastated to think that “God was taking away my ability,” saying, “there was no reason for any of this”. Explaining what led up to his surgery, Bon Jovi said: “One of my cords was literally atrophied”. “My craft was being taken from me,” he added. He said he found a surgeon who gave him a “cutting-edge implant to build the cord back up”. “The rest of it I can deal with,” he said. “I can write you a song, I can perform as well as anybody, but I need to get my tools back.
