Gold gains on technical buying, friendly outside markets

Technically, April gold futures bulls have the solid overall near-term technical advantage. A five-week-old uptrend is in place on the daily bar chart. Bulls’ next upside price objective is to produce a close above solid resistance at the contract and record high of $2,225.30. Bears' next near-term downside price objective is pushing futures prices below solid technical support at $2,149.20. First resistance is seen at the overnight high of $2,182.50 and then at Friday’s high of $2,188.00.
