Stocks rose slightly at the open as trade talks between China and the U.S. restarted while fears that the economy may be slowing down persisted.

div > div.group > p:first-child"> The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 107 points at the open, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both climbed 0.2 percent.

Trade between China and the U.S. has been a key issue for Wall Street as investors fear a prolonged standoff between the world's largest economies could hinder corporate profits and economic growth. Negotiations between the two countries continue amid growing concern of an economic slowdown as the bond market flashes signals that a recession could come soon.

The move lower in Treasury yields pressured the major U.S. stock indexes. The S&P 500 closed lower for the third time in four days along with the Nasdaq. The Dow fell for the second time in as many sessions.
