Australian superstar footballer Sam Kerr should be stripped from her position as captain of the Matildas. That is the view of former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson, who does not have a problem with making a tough call on this country’s sporting icons. Johnson’s beef with Kerr comes after Kerr’s drunken episode in Twickenham in January, 2023, where she allegedly threw up in a Taxi and abused a police officer.

Writing a column for new news platform The Nightly, Johnson says Kerr needs to be called into question. Johnson particularly did not like how Kerr kept the story hidden for so long. “Regardless of the outcome of Kerr’s charge in England, her captaincy deserves to be called into question after hiding it from Football Australia,” Johnson wrote for The Nightly. “More than just being looked up to by many young girls and boys, Kerr is the captain.
