“A lot of companies are choosing to either relocate to Texas or expand here so this state is, is very well positioned for growth and in order to do that, companies need people to work for them,” said Thomas Tunstall, Senior Research Director at the UTSA Institute for Economic Development. Professor of Economics at Trinity University, David Macpherson agreed there have been positive impacts from the migrant boom that started in 2023, but it’s too early to gauge just how large that impact is.
While migrants could be contributing to the economy, opponents of the migrant boom have said the surge can also lead to issues., almost 80% of Americans believe the government is doing a bad job dealing with the migrant influx.shows 57% of Americans also believe the increase in migrants could lead to more crime.
