update 1.6 have been released and they bring with them a brand new map, called Block, as well as the beginning of some changes based on player feedback.
Update 1.6 is currently being installed, with servers expected to go back online around 1 pm BST / 8am ET. Until thenBlock is the headline new addition in patch 1.6. It’s a brand-new map set in the courtyard of one of Tarkov's residential districts, that has been adapted to be a combat arena. From the screenshots that have been released, it looks a lot more built up than other maps and seems to have a lot of small spaces for players to fight it out in.
After launching a questionnaire in the launcher a while back, the first player-suggested changes are starting to make their way towith this patch, but more are promised to be coming in later updates. The first ones included with this patch are that all skills will be set to level 30 and all weapon mastery types will be at level three, while Tier 1 presets for all classes have been removed, with each class now having two free Tier 2 presets available from the start.
While the patch isn’t game-changing, it is clearly a step in the right direction and tries to address some of the larger. It seems doubtful that this will bring a lot of players back to the game, but with more updates like this it should eventually become a lot more fun to play and that will hopefully bring back some players who bounced off it after the poor launch.
