The Warriors have signed James Fisher-Harris after premiers Penrith granted the Kiwi Test prop a release from his contract on compassionate grounds. In a statement, the three-time reigning premiers said Fisher-Harris had approached club bosses this week with his request to return home at the end of this season. “Out of respect to the three-time premiership player, Panthers saw it only fitting to grant this request,” Penrith said.
“While we would have loved him to stay at the Panthers, we wish him, his partner Natalie, and children Tahira and Deon, all the best for their next chapter.” The 28-year-old has played 183 NRL games since making his NRL debut in 2016, plus four matches for the Maori all-stars and 15 Tests for New Zealand. Last year he was bestowed with the honour of the Kiwi captaincy and won the 2023 Golden Boot Award as the best international player in the world.
