Three men posing as police officers carried out a “sickening” and violent home invasion, tying up a man and assaulting his wife as they ransacked the elderly couple’s Perth home. The men produced a fake badge, claiming to be police officers, and asked to come inside the couple’s Allison Dr home in Girrawheen, in Perth’s north, about 7pm on Thursday, police said. Once the 76-year-old man let them in, they attacked, tying him up as they brutally assaulted and robbed his 73-year-old wife.

“The community deserves the right to feel safe and secure in their homes, the public should feel outrage.” One of the offenders is described as about 165cm tall, and the other two are between 185cm and 190cm. They were all wearing dark-coloured long pants, shirts and long-sleeved jackets and are described as having olive complexions. WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch slammed the incident, and said the victims’ injuries “made me sick to my stomach”.
