PLANNED CHANGES TO the local property tax are to be deferred by one year, Finance and Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe announced last night.
In 2015, the LPT being paid by homeowners was frozen until 2019, meaning that people whose properties had increased in price still only had to pay the same rate of tax they have since the original LPT valuations in 2013. The minister has also committed to engage with the committee to “identify a design that can deliver” on the conditions he set for the LPT.
Donohoe said he supports the retention of the option for Local Authorities to reduce the LPT rate for their area, and added that he will also engage with the Budget Oversight Committee on the issues of management fees, which was recently a matter raised by Fianna Fáil in a private members Bill. “We believe it is possible to reform the tax in a way that provides certainty around the tax for the next number of years and at the same time doesn’t result in household LPT bills increasing in line with their property valuation,” he said.
Paschald Ireland, where you save for a deposit for a home, get a mortgage then have to pay property tax while your alive & then when you die your family pay more tax on it We might be getting screwed here🤔🤔 If you continue to vote FG/FF/SF then you are part of the problem why
Paschald The real shafting is starting, property taxes, income taxes and carbon bullshit taxes. Get ready people of Ireland for a mother and father of a shafting over the next 15 years, the government gravy train is running low and you are going to pay and dig deep to keep it flowing.
Paschald Why? What other bills are about to surge next year?😲
Paschald But sure, it's okay for renters to be gouged for another few years but don't touch the fedual landlords in their overvalued houses, they Nedd to be protected. Paschal is a mouthpiece.
Paschald Tell that to those in rented accommodation 🤣
Paschald Wouldn’t it be sensible to link the cost of the tax to income tax too?
