Resorts World Sentosa to build new entertainment attractions and facilities.

Resorts World Sentosa today announced major expansion plans to generate new tourism growth. With a total development investment of S$4.5 billion, RWS will add over 164,000 square metres of new attractions, entertainment and lifestyle offerings. The major expansion will take place in stages, with new experiences opening every year from 2020 to a projected completion around 2025.

Two new immersive themed areas will be added to the groundwork – Minion Park and Super Nintendo World. RWS will also take over the adjacent Maritime Experiential Museum to create a new Singapore Oceanarium, thus rebranding its S.E.A. Aquarium to three times its size. The Waterfront Promenade will be redeveloped to include a nightly show and multi-purpose event zone which can be used for festivals and outdoor events.

Two new destination hotels, together with the expansion of the Central Zone, will also add up to 1,100 more rooms to RWS, increasing number of accommodation options on Sentosa. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of the driverless transport system across the Sentosa Boardwalk. Mr Tan Hee Teck, Chief Executive Officer of RWS was quoted: “RWS has been a major game-changer and growth engine in the last ten years in transforming Singapore’s tourism landscape. This major re- investment and expansion here in Singapore underlines our belief in the business model and the future opportunities that lie ahead when we complete the development.
