Kota Kinabalu: The State Government will consider imposing State Sales Tax on gold taken out of Sabah, said Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Julita Majungki.

This, she said, is one of the steps taken to improve the gold mining and smelting management processes to be more efficient in Sabah.“The State Government will also review contract agreements and ordinances, acts or enactments related to increasing the gold royalty rate from five percent to 10 percent on raw gold produced from mining activities,” she said at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, Tuesday.
