A young woman has suffered a “significant wound” in a dog attack in north Queensland, just hours after a woman was left with serious injuries in another mauling in the state’s southeast. The attacks in Townsville and Burpengary, north of Brisbane, on Tuesday have come a week after the state government passed laws cracking down on owners of dangerous dogs, including the threat of jail time. The woman in her 20s was at a private property in Mount Louisa when she was bitten about 6.30pm on Tuesday.
“Officers from City of Moreton Bay Council attended the scene of the Burpengary incident quickly, in response to the emergency call,” a council spokesperson said. “The incident was on private premises. “The dog has been removed and is being held by council. Investigations are continuing and any further actions are contingent on the outcome of this investigation.
