Cody Weightman has suffered an injury to his left elbow for the third time in less than two years. Just weeks removed from dislocating the joint for the second time, the Western Bulldogs speedster fell hard on his arm late in the first quarter against Fremantle on Saturday night. The 23-year-old, wearing a protective sleeve, was clearly distressed but had the presence of mind to wave for medical assistance.
Weightman first dislocated his left elbow when breaking his fall during a match in June 2022, remarkably returning to play through the pain. More trouble arrived in Round 4 this year when the same injury occurred in a tackle. Again he played out the game and he was subsequently cleared of major damage, remaining in the team the following week. But there would appear to be some level of concern for Weightman’s elbow this time round.
