Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah says Adfimi member countries cannot afford to neglect the critical balance between food production and consumption of natural resources. – BernamapicMalaysia is set to spearhead the promotion of closer ties among Association of National Development Finance Institutions in Member Countries of the Islamic Development Bank member nations and explore bilateral or multilateral strategic partnerships that address regional food security issues.
“Climate change, soil degradation and water scarcity are all challenges that affect us today, and these will continue to worsen unless we are serious in addressing the issue of how we must produce food sustainably,” he said in his opening remarks during the 41st Adfimi general assembly held during the 2024 IsDB Group’s annual meetings and golden jubilee celebration here yesterday.
In addressing this, member countries, he said, must focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting climate-smart agriculture practices such as conservation agriculture, sustainable land management and utilisation of agri-technologies that promote the efficient use of resources. He said Adfimi members have a shared commitment to promote Islamic finance and increase its accessibility to small and medium enterprises.
