A man and five children have been arrested over the alleged assault of a delivery rider in Sydney’s inner west. The rider was assaulted as he attempted to make a delivery in Glebe on April 15, police allege. Video of the incident shows the rider retreating from the group as they scream and throw glass bottles at him, one shattering at his feet. “Get him now, get him now,” one child can be heard saying before the rider runs in terror.
On Thursday, police confirmed an 18-year-old man and five children had been arrested over the incident. The 18-year-old was on Wednesday charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others. He was refused police bail to appear before Newtown Local Court on Thursday. Since April 17, police have also charged a 17-year-old boy, 16-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy over the incident.
