A fan has suffered a “catastrophic spinal cord injury” when the lead singer of Aussie rock band Trophy Eyes stage-dived during a show in Buffalo, New York last week. Bird Piche, 24, suffered the major injury in the mosh pit on April 30, when frontman John Floreani reportedly leapt into the audience to crowd surf, knocking Piche to the ground.

Sunrise newsreader Edwina Bartholomew speaks about fan injury at rock concert. The show was immediately stopped as Piche was taken to hospital. Bird’s family and friends have now set-up a GoFundMe page, in order to cover their medical costs, which has raised about $US40,000 . The band has donated $US5000. On Monday, Edwina Bartholomew spoke about the accident on Sunrise.
