The inmates made a set of stocks and a board for photos for a medieval market and fayre taking place in July

Community spirit is powering forward preparations for a Medieval Market and Fayre on Dumfries High Street in July.

Inmates at HM Prison Dumfries have answered a call to create bespoke props for the Medieval Market and Fayre in the form of a set of stocks and a face in the hole board for photo opportunities over the weekend. Anne Simpson of The People’s Project, who was the project team’s liaison with the prison said: “It was a pleasure working with HM Prison Dumfries, staff and inmates. The enthusiasm and creativity have been amazing.

Anne added: “We are extremely grateful to the prison and the businesses who have donated materials to make this project possible. Miranda Cloy of Signcraft is also involved in designing the face in the hole boards which will include local figures of medieval times in Dumfries and Galloway for photo opportunities.
