Major international airlines Emirates Group and Singapore Airlines Group are reportedly passing on a portion of their annual profits to staff, after raking in billions throughout the last financial year. It’s understood that bonuses equivalent to eight months of their salary will be given to eligible Singapore Airlines staff, and bonuses equivalent to six months’ salary will be given to eligible Emirates staff. Both airlines made record-breaking profits in the last financial year.
It noted “geopolitical tensions, macroeconomic uncertainties, inflationary pressures, and supply chain constraints” as current challenges facing the industry, in a shareholder summary, but still raked in $S518 million more than it did the year before. Emirates carried 43.6 million passengers in the last financial year and recorded a 71 per cent year-on-year profit increase, earning $Dh10.6 billion , according to The National.
