Wayne Bennett lands another job offer as South Sydney kept on edge

The Papua New Guinea NRL bid is not over the line with Peter V’landys revealing Friday is “D-Day” as he prepares to meet with officials from the Australian government in Brisbane. V’landys, the ARL Commission chairman, said he was prepared to walk away from the PNG bid if negotiations did not proceed to their liking.

He is certainly the main man. “Look what he has done with the Dolphins. If he is available he would be the one we want .” Bennett is perhaps just days away from signing a reported three-year deal to return to the South Sydney Rabbitohs that would run until the end of 2027 — the same year PNG could enter the league. The legendary coach will turn 78 ahead of the 2028 season.
