Harley Reid has revealed he was desperate to reunite with his family on his week off last month after experiencing “the worst birthday” of his life. The 19-year-old sat out West Coast’s Round 7 loss to the Suns after his body showed signs it was “flagging” and needed a rest to avoid injury. As it turns out, the break also served to reboot his mental fitness following a tough reminder of life in Perth without family.

“Sometimes on your day off you’d love to drive around and see your family but obviously you can’t, so it was good to get a weekend home and see the family. “I’m 19, I’ve never moved out of home, so I don’t know any different without my parents around and my family.” The Eagles’ push to help Reid settle in has been aided by the winning feeling. Three victories in their first 10 games is one more than West Coast recorded in all of 2022 and equals last year’s final tally.
