A South Australian man accused of drug possession and trafficking in Bali has been moved to a rehabilitation facility. Troy Smith’s legal team were hoping the Port Lincoln man would be moved to a facility rather than remain in jail after he was accused of smuggling methamphetamine into the Indonesian Island. Local police allege he was sent a parcel from Australia containing about 3g of methamphetamine, while Smith’s lawyer argued it was an unsolicited present from a friend.
The Port Lincoln man has hired former police officer turned private consultant, John Mcleod, who has worked on other high-profile drug cases in Bali, to provide further advice Mcleod’s security company, Tora Solutions, said Smith had been moved from cells at a police station following an assessment of his medical condition. “Documentation has been submitted and forensic assessment has been conducted into Troy’s medical condition,” a statement posted to Facebook said.
