People expecting to fly into Brisbane have ended up in other cities due to thick fog preventing landing at the airport. Seven flights have been diverted on Friday morning, with planes landing at Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns and Sydney instead of the Queensland capital. “Thick fog is temporarily preventing aircraft from landing at Brisbane Airport,” the airport posted on Facebook. “Seven flights have been diverted to the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns and Sydney.
” Some aircraft have been able to land, while planes have been departing the domestic and international terminals. Other planes have been in holding patterns “as they wait for conditions to improve”, the airport posted. The Bureau of Meteorology reported visibility at the airport had decreased to just 50m at one point in Friday morning. The authority has also warned of the fog causing “dangerous” road conditions, “mainly through the inner, southern and western” areas of Brisbane.
