The driver killed when his truck carrying a load of turf rolled on a Gold Coast hinterland road has been identified as a young father. James Kelly, 27, died in the single-vehicle crash on Tamborine Oxenford Rd at Wongawallan about 6.45am on Tuesday.
Young dad identified as victim of deadly turf truck crash. He has left behind partner Shianne Vaughan and baby son Roman. Vaughan wrote on Facebook that it “breaks my heart” to announce Kelly’s death. The turf-growing community has set up a GoFundMe to support the young family. Organiser Natalie Scalisi from Turf Queensland said the community was “deeply saddened” by the “tragic loss” of the “young contract driver, devoted partner, and loving father”.
