A teenager could face jail after filming a stunt for Instagram in which he jumped from a moving car over a bridge railing, landing 13 metres below into water. The Gold Coast teen calls himself “Mad Jonny”, or @jonnyflipss, on the social media platform. Last week, he filmed himself jumping from the roof of a moving car over a pedestrian railing of the Currumbin Bridge. Police have warned that if they catch up with the self-styled stuntman, he could face a year in jail or more than $3000 in fines.

According to the Gold Coast Bulletin on Wednesday, Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles said the “serious” offence could result in a year imprisonment or fines of more than $3000. “Police strongly discourage anyone from attempting such stunts,” Knowles said. “These actions not only put the individual’s life at risk but also endanger others. “The thrill is not worth the potential consequences.
