A police officer has been sacked after an incident at a recent NRL game between the Sydney Roosters and the Melbourne Storm. The off-duty officer was at the game at Allianz Stadium with his father and threw an object at the referee. The father — reportedly a high-ranking officer — is also under investigation for his role in the ugly incident. Melbourne Storm won the game 18-12 and respected ref Ashley Klein was in charge.

“An officer has been issued an infringement notice following an investigation into an incident involving two off-duty police officers on Thursday 18 April, at a football match in Moore Park,” a police spokesperson said. “The probationary constable was dismissed from the NSW Police. “An internal investigation into the incident continues.” A third person was also involved.
