Queensland drivers will save 20 per cent on their car registration under a cost of living relief measure announced by the Queensland government. Premier Steven Miles said the savings would apply for 12-months to light vehicle registrations from September 16, 2024. It will also include motorcycles and light trailers. Fees for a four-cylinder car will be reduced by $85, bringing the registration cost to $338.75, excluding Compulsory Third Party Insurance.
The announcement comes ahead of the state budget to be handed down on June 11. It also follows a freeze on car registration cost increases announced at the end of 2023.
