Former NRL star Jarryd Hayne has been released from custody and ordered to live with his wife after his rape convictions were quashed for a second time on appeal. The 36-year-old spent a year behind bars after a jury convicted him of two counts of sexual intercourse without consent in April 2023 after an earlier guilty verdict was overturned in a separate appeal.
Jarryd Hayne walks from jail He was released from the Mary Wade Correctional Centre in Lidcombe about 5pm on Wednesday, wearing an untucked white dress shirt and chinos before quickly being whisked away into a waiting friend’s ute. Hayne was granted bail subject to the conditions that he must live with his wife, be of good behaviour, surrender a surety of $20,000 and surrender his passport.
