A former top-flight rugby player has given chase following an alleged stabbing attack that left two people critically injured in Perth’s northern suburbs. One of the victims, 18, was stabbed in the abdomen and the other, also 18, was slashed on his left wrist and thigh after they were attacked by two offenders, both 16, on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The accused were allegedly armed with knives when they went to Northgate St in Karrinyup about 2.30pm for a prearranged meeting with the men, who were sitting in a car. “Both victims were conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital with critical injuries,” WA Police said.
