A Competition Commission inquiry has recommended that SA's key national fresh produce markets look at fostering private-public partnerships or introducing"corporatisation" to fix their operations.
The inquiry by SA's top antitrust body found the"overwhelming views of stakeholders" is that the condition of the major fresh produce markets such as Johannesburg, Tshwane and Durban are"bad and deteriorating, mainly due to problems that can be characterised as funding issues".
