The point in issue in the current defamation proceeding appears to be that while Mr Regan did appear as a witness for AMP, the allegations made at the royal commission over misleading ASIC were levelled at the company and not him personally.The newspaper’s publisher, Nationwide News, is yet to file a defence. The company did not respond to a request for comment., is acting as counsel for Mr Regan.
It cited associates who read the article believing the imputations to be true as an example of the harm incurred, in addition to people in business and finance forming the same opinion. He also cited comments on the article.“The harm is ongoing and developing and Regan will give further particulars of serious harm in due course,” the court filing said.
