A man is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly brutally attacked in Perth’s inner east on Saturday. Mathew Thomas, 38, said he was walking with his partner about 6pm when a stranger knocked him to the ground and stomped on his head outside the Eastgate Commercial Centre in Rivervale.
Injured man speaks out over Rivervale assault. Thomas, from Mandurah, is being cared for at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital after undergoing surgery for multiple facial fractures. He told 7NEWS the attack was random and completely unprovoked. “All I remember is walking back from IGA Rivervale towards Great Eastern Motor Lodge with my partner, who was a few metres in front of me, and out of nowhere pretty much I got attacked by some random,” he said.
