, Katie O'Brien's, opened its doors. It was a day later than planned after plumbing issues at the building in Long Row but the work was completed in time for a weekend of drinking and music.
"Guinness was a huge seller. We almost ran out of barrels. We got very close. The demand was huge. We've had some lovely reviews from customers saying it was one of the best Guinnesses they'd had and quite a few had the experience of drinking Guinness in Ireland so we took that as a massive compliment."
The bar has been given a full green Irish makeover, decorated with lots of Guinness paraphernalia, shamrocks and old-fashioned paintings of landscapes, cottages, boats and horses. Subdued lighting creates a cosy feel, while a huge glitter ball adds some dazzle.
