The so-called “happiest place on earth” isn’t so happy after all – as Bhutan grapples with a brain drain issue amid a bleak economy.

Its government is eyeing cutting-edge technology to stem a brain drain and growing economic unhappiness.

But then compare that to the north, to China. There are no official diplomatic relations whatsoever. However, there have been disagreements and disputes about border demarcation between Bhutan and China and India as well, and especially in that triangle in the west of the country, where we had this Doklam standoff in 2017 where you had Chinese soldiers and Indian soldiers facing each other for two months.
