There are fears for a missing 12-year-old who was last seen swimming in a creek in croc country in the Northern Territory. The child was last seen swimming at Mango Creek, near the remote community of Palumpa, about 5.30pm on Tuesday. “Community members and Peppimenarti Police attended the scene and began searching for the child, who has yet to be located,” NT Police said. Initial reports said the child had been attacked by a crocodile. A Search and Rescue team has been deployed into the area.
“Local officers are on scene and our thoughts are with the family and the community,” Senior Sergeant Erica Gibson said. “Officers are currently searching a large section of the creek via boat and we thank the community for their ongoing assistance.” Palumpa is located in the Daly River region and has a history of crocodile-related incidents.
