The government will reopen the Pangkalan Data Utama registration system for its second phase, economy minister Rafizi Ramli revealed yesterday during Dewan Rakyat. This move aims to allow individuals who have not yet registered to update their information within the specified period.
Rafizi highlighted the government's call for cooperation from all parties in raising awareness about the value of using PADU data. He noted that in the future, the data would be essential for forming government intervention programs and identifying recipients of assistance. These comments were made in response to a question from Datuk Anyi Ngau regarding the status of PADU in Sarawak and measures to ensure that the B40 group in the state benefits from the system.
In his response, Rafizi revealed that phase one of PADU in March recorded a total of 10,544,016 individuals had updated their information, with 1,071,796 of them being from Sarawak. He also noted that the state government had previously decided to postpone registration to the system.Rafizi further emphasised that the primary goal of PADU is to improve the efficiency of policy planning and resource allocation, particularly in targeting subsidies and government assistance more effectively.
