Reports on the state of the economy, and outbreak of Cholera, dominate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Jide Idris, director-general of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, said a total of 2,102 suspected cholera cases and 63 deaths have been recorded across 33 states and 122 LGAs in the country. The newspaper says the Central Bank of Nigeria has warned deposit money banks to stop rejecting old and smaller denominations of the US dollar.

Daily Trust reports that Aliko Dangote, the billionaire businessman, said the hike in interest rate by the CBN will hinder economic growth and job creation. The Guardian reports that the commencement of mergers, and winding up of some ministries, departments, and agencies is unsettling civil servants. The newspaper reports the Sokoto state government as saying that the Sultan lacks the constitutional powers to appoint anyone.

THISDAY reports that Vice-President Kashim Shettima said the federal government has joined forces with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria to develop a policy framework that would refocus the country’s manufacturing sector. The newspaper says the federal government has issued fresh regulations on deduction of withholding tax.
